Additionally, the quiet and secluded nature of a library can contribute to a heightened sense of the paranormal. This characteristic is one of the reasons libraries are frequently considered potentially haunted locations. One also needs to consider the land that the library is built upon. Paranormal activity is often tied to the land and not the particular structure. If there has been paranormal activity within buildings that have been razed and a new building is built in that location, the activity may continue in the new structure.
Ghost stories often center around old buildings or structures that have been abandoned and left to deteriorate, as they contribute to a spooky atmosphere. As time goes on, stories and traditions about strange events that take place in these locations might be handed down from one generation to the next, strengthening the belief in the lore.
