According to a post on Facebook by the resident of the home:
The home is a Georgian style home built for James Whitney, Harman's first mayor and ship builder.
The home was built in 1834.
An addition was added to the home in 1847. The back part of the house was the original building and the addition is in the front of the house.
The Clellan family purchase the home in 1965 for $3000 from Willard Johnson.
The home was sold in 1982 to the current owners when the Clellan family moved to Winston-Salem, N.C.
