History information is some background and history about the location. This is meant to be a basic summary. Below the history records you will find sources in which you can click on to find out more information. There may be multiple history records per location.

This building was built to be used by the caretaker of the cemetery. It now sits vacant since the cemetery is taken care of by the National Park Service instead of having a separate caretaker at the cemetery. We are including this building as a separate entry in the database although it sits within the Soldier's National Cemetery. This building has its own unique history and paranormal claims.

Stories are just that. Stories and personal accounts that have been reported about the location.

Mark Nesbit Wrote:

This building was used to house all of the artifacts that were collected by Samuel Weaver (man who documented the moving of the bodies to the cemetery) and families would stop by to pick up the belongings. There were so many artifacts that were collected from the dead in this building that it was almost overflowing. Over the years after the state took over the cemetery, then the National Park Service took over the cemetery, these items were removed from the building.

Mark used to live in this building. One night he felt as if his roommate came down the stairs and was standing on the landing. After a few moments he turned around and nobody was there. He went upstairs to see what his roommate may have wanted, and his roommate confirmed that he never left his room. He also said that he would often feel a cold spot on the landing.

There are also sounds of a baby crying that come from upstairs sometimes, but there is no baby in the building.
