Lighthouses

Lighthouses are often thought to be haunted because they are located next to large, moving bodies of water. There are many lighthouses located near beaches that are perilous because ships have crashed there, resulting in a large number of deaths. These deaths could be linked to ghostly sightings. Lighthouses are also often haunted by lighthouse keepers or their families, as they frequently lived in extreme solitude, which could lead to emotional discomfort and even violence, perhaps creating leftover energy as well as their feeling the need to continue their work to keep sailors safe on the high seas. The aura surrounding haunted lighthouses is enhanced by the fact that much local folklore and many stories about them have been passed down through the years.

Hospitals or Nursing Homes

Hospitals or nursing homes are often thought to be haunted because they are places where people frequently experience extreme pain, suffering, and death. These experiences can be believed to leave behind lingering spirits or energies that may manifest as paranormal activity. Essentially, the high concentration of significant life events, particularly tragic ones, could create an environment where some people believe ghosts are more likely to appear. Some believe that hospitals or nursing homes would be a type of location, much like battlefields, where thousands of lives were lost in a small concentrated area, creating portals for souls to be transported to the other realm.

Libraries

Libraries are typically old buildings with a rich history; they are filled with stories and knowledge contained within books, which could attract lingering spirits who may want to continue learning or experiencing the stories even after death. Additionally, the quiet and secluded nature of a library can contribute to a heightened sense of the paranormal. This characteristic is one of the reasons libraries are frequently considered potentially haunted locations. One also needs to consider the land that the library is built upon. Paranormal activity is often tied to the land and not the particular structure. If there has been paranormal activity within buildings that have been razed and a new building is built in that location, the activity may continue in the new structure.
